During the research part of our coursework the main technology used was the internet. This was especially useful when researching different types of documentaries, as well as the conventions of the documentary genre. We were able to access different “On Demand” services (e.g. BBC iplayer, ITV Hub, 4oD) where we could watch full length television programmes. This further aided our documentary research.

Using the internet, we were also able to research the different aspects of newspaper advertisements and radio trailers. We were able to look at professional products, and the conventions that they followed. In addition, we were also able access websites such as http://www.channel4.com/about_c4/styleguide/downloads/C4StyleGuide1.1.pdf , which gave exact instruction as to what to follow when creating newspaper advertisements.
Furthermore, we could also use the internet to research different facts and figures for our documentary. These were used in the voiceovers.

The main technologies were different presentation software, such as Prezi, Microsoft Office and Tagul.
The main technologies were different presentation software, such as Prezi, Microsoft Office and Tagul.
Using Tagul we were able to visualize everything that could be included in our documentary, such as topic areas. With the subject of the documentary already being confirmed at this point, Tagul served as a good platform to brainstorm further.

Our documentary construction was done via Adobe Premiere.
To start our documentary we needed to import the clips into the program so that we could then add them to the timeline.

Newspaper Advertisement Construction
Our Newspaper Advertisement was constructed using Adobe Photoshop. 
After taking each individual photo for the advertisement we imported them into photoshop,and proceeded to group them together to form the word ‘FIT’.  Prior to this however, we needed to remove the background of each photo. This was done by using the ‘wand’ tool.
After this we needed to create more layers so that each image could be moved individually.

Radio Trailer Construction
Our radio trailer was created in a similar way to our documentary, by using Adobe Premiere. 
We started by importing the files into the program, including the interview clips that we wished to include. 
Following this we used the ‘cut’ tool to cut the interviews down to the soundbites that we intended on using. 
In addition, we changed the volume levels of the voiceover so that the person talking could be heard

One technology used during the evaluation stage of the work was Prezi. This presentation software allowed for a clear and creative portrayal of my work, so was a suitable way to answer the question ‘How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts’.

When evaluating audience feedback, social media was the main technology used, such as Facebook and Twitter. It gave people easy access to the work, and they could leave comments at their own leisure - which I could also easily access. YouTube helped in this aspect also, as I could upload any video work to the site, and then share it through other sites for people to access.
