  • Basic Information
 
*Each division for a team needs a minimum of 3 players   with the ideal size being five players                                                                                                                   

*Not All Teams Compete in Every Division.

Separated by age & gender
Anyone can play
Backgrounds in football, martial arts and soccer are a plus before starting  but not required.
Players are expected to know the rules.
Must have proper gear. Protect yourself at all times during the game.

In the dojang the field may be any size and you can play half court. Goals can be attached to existing heavy bags.
In the gym, use length of entire basketball court,  goals may be attached to the rims or stand alone under the rims.
Matted floors are strongly recommended.
May also be played outside.

What you kick
Attaches to a 6’ pole
Same size as Baton
Made from PVC
Contains a magnet on the top end.
Only the person that has the baton can kick this.
Cannot touch with head,hand or knee.
Only use ankle to the toes to kick.

Tries to score
Waits for the referee to hand the baton to them at the line of scrimmage between attacks
Cannot start until the Referee blows the whistle

Whistle ends the play
If the game clock ends and a play is in progress, the play continues until a whistle is blown.
Shooter must stay in field of play
  • The Teams Bow In At The Beginning of Every Game
  • Teams will retreat to opposite 7 meter lines
There is no kick off, you start with the baton in hand
When the whistle sounds you move  toward the goal, this is called the opening attack.
Object is to score, or get to the opposite 7 meter line
  • Scoring on a opening attack
If you make it to the kick stick and score, your team will receive points.
After resetting the field, the other team will take possession of the baton from their 7 meter line, and try to score on your goal.
  • Getting stopped on a Opening attack
If you are stopped before you get to the 7 meter line, you will have 3 tries to get there, if you don’t, their team will take possession of the baton from the point of last attempt.
  • Getting to the 7 Meter Line
When you cross the 7 meter line, you get 3 more attacks (attempts) to score.
The baton will be brought back to the 7 meter line if there is no score
No score after 3 attacks from the 7 meter line means you turn over possession of the baton

If someone falls without being kicked, just touch them, they will be down.

  • 2009 comBATON Contact Rules
(no hands to the head)
Controlled Head Contact:  Means there is no penetration or visible movement of the competitors head as a result of the contact.  Light touch is required to the head scoring area. This only applies to divisions with head contact.
Body Contact:  Means penetration or slight target movement.  Moderate touch contact may be made to all legal target areas of the body.

Equipment  
All competitors must wear:
Olympic style/Point style chest protector.
Headgear, with face shield.
Team uniform (Jersey with #,uniform pants)
Martial arts shoes/ Tennis shoes.
Optional:
Shin & instep protectors ( must be worn underneath the uniform)
Forearm protectors.
Gloves. 
Mouth-guard.  
Groin protection (hard cup on the inside of their dobok).   Groin protection is optional, but suggested, for females.
Eyeglasses of any kind are not allowed without a face shield.
